Congratulations to our graduate student, Joo Kyeong Kim, on receiving the 2024 Language Learning Dissertation Grant.
Language Learning is a scientific journal dedicated to the understanding of language learning broadly defined. It publishes research articles that systematically apply methods of inquiry from disciplines including psychology, linguistics, cognitive science, educational inquiry, neuroscience, ethnography, sociolinguistics, sociology, and anthropology. The Language Learning Dissertation Grant Program is aimed at facilitating the research work of doctoral candidates in the language sciences.
Joo Kyeong’s doctoral research focuses on Spanish heritage speakers’ morphophonology, that is, the intersection of morphology (i.e., word structure) and phonology (i.e., sound system). Her study aims to explore whether heritage speakers’ allomorph selection is based on the mental lexicon or governed by a productive rule.
