NADINE
In this shorter performance, Luiza Romão presents several scenes from the show Nadine, using a sampler and a microphone on a stand. Adaptable to different formats and performance spaces, the piece touches on aspects of detective fiction and presentsthe poems with a stronger emphasis on spoken word.

Synopsis:
Based on Luiza Romão’s book of the same name, Nadine tells the story of a young woman who, after being murdered, decides to investigate her own crime. Blending spoken word with crime fiction, the performance explores themes such as gender, the representation of violence, and the states of vulnerability associated with sleep. Onstage, the poems come to life alongside the original soundtrack created by José Paes de Lira. Featuring various special guest appearances in voice-over, the audio tracks are triggered through a sampler, creating soundscapes, musical recordings, and vocal architectures. The event will be hold both in Portuguese and English.

LUIZA ROMÃO
Poet, actress, and researcher, Luiza Romão is the author of Sangria, Também guardamos pedras aqui (winner of the Jabuti Prize for Best Poetry Book and Book of the Year), and Nadine. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts and a master’s degree in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature from the University of São Paulo (USP), where she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. researching the relationship between literature and performance.

Her work has been presented at major festivals in Brazil and abroad, including performances in Argentina, Germany, Cuba, China, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Mexico, Costa Rica, France, and Uruguay, among other countries.
