Our department offers the following degree programs:
Spanish – major and minor
Spanish Community and Culture – major only
Spanish and Linguistics – major and minor
Portuguese and Brazilian Studies – major and minor
Spanish and Portuguese – major only
Mexican Studies – minor only

How to Declare a Major in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese
To declare a major, you must have an overall GPA of 2.0, if you are a continuing student, you must have completed one quarter at UCLA. The Department has not placed a limit on the number of approved undergraduate majors.

How to Add a Second Major in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese
If you are declared in a different major and you are interested in double majoring, you must complete the following requirements before you add the second major:
All prerequisites for both majors
2 upper-division courses for each major
*Note: No more than 20 upper division units may overlap between both majors.
How to Declare a Minor in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese
To declare a Minor in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese, students must have an overall GPA of 2.0, must complete all lower-division requirements, and must meet with the Undergraduate Advisor.
All courses must be taken for a letter grade and students must obtain at least a “C” in all courses towards the minor.
