Research
I’m interested in nineteenth and early twentieth Mexican and Latin American literatures from a perspective that uses the methodology of comparative literature, decolonial, transpacific, feminist, and gender studies, as well as book history.
I’m particularly concerned about studying how cultural identities develop concerning translation, imitation, and other reappropriations within postcolonial contexts. I also love the rare, the decadent, and monstrous in literature.
Lately, I’ve been working on Japonism in rare Mexican authors at the end of the nineteenth century.
