Thelma Cabrera is a Maya-Mam social and political activist. She is one of the main leaders of CODECA (Comité de Desarrollo Campesino), an organization dedicated to the defense of the rights of Indigenous peoples in Guatemala, including the right to land property, Indigenous women’s rights, and the labor rights of agricultural seasonal workers. In 2019, Cabrera was appointed by the platform “Movimiento por la Liberación de los Pueblos” as their candidate to run for the Guatemalan presidency.
