Angelica Waner receives postdoctoral appointment at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign

Angelica Waner has been appointed as a Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow in the American Indian Studies Program at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, for the 2024-25 academic year. At the University of Illinois, Angelica will be continuing her research on Zapotec literary and cultural production. She received her Ph.D. from our department in Spring 2024 with a dissertation titled “From Roads to Iguanas: Tracing Contemporary Zapotec Literature.” The department congratulates Dr. Waner on receiving her doctorate and on her appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and also wishes to acknowledge the work of her dissertation committee members, Professors Patricia Arroyo Calderón (chair), Gloria E. Chacón, Jorge Marturano, Fernando Pérez Montesinos, Shannon Speed, and Maarten van Delden.
