Samuel Steinberg: “Photopoetics at Tlatelolco, 1968” (respondent: Professor Todd Presner)

The Urban Humanities lecture series –  Samuel Steinberg, Assistant Professor of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Southern California, will lecture on material from his forthcoming book Photopoetics at Tlatelolco: Afterimages of Mexico, 1968 in conversation with the Urban Humanities Initiative’s core faculty Todd Presner, Maite Zubiaurre, and Jonathan Crisman. The book delves into the history of the 1968 student massacre in Mexico City, using visual materials as a device for examining the effects of violence and state-sponsored manipulation of cultural memory.
