Come study with the Department of Spanish & Portuguese this summer! Our Study Abroad programs are always popular, and we offer a selection of courses for majors/minors looking to get ahead on their degree progress or those who still need to fulfill the language requirement. Students from other UCs or the community can also take our summer courses—look here for more information about enrolling. Whether you’re looking to check off some requirements, start a whole new language, or refresh your memory if it’s been a while, you can find all our summer courses here.

Summer Session 2026

We are offering a variety of courses ranging from beginner levels, to intermediate to advanced literature courses. Whether you’re interested in pursuing a foreign language or furthering your skills, we invite all students to enroll in our courses. All information about Summer Session can be accessible here.

Satisfy the Foreign Language Requirement

Spanish 3 Placement Exam

Take the placement exam if you wish to enroll in a class but are unsure as to which level is appropriate. A placement recommendation will appear at the end of the exam. You may take the exam at any time, preferably on campus to avoid computer compatibility issues.

Summer Session for Non-UCLA Students

If you’re not a UCLA student, this opportunity is for you too! Students at both high school and community college can satisfy their language requirements with UCLA summer courses.
