In a ceremony that took place on Friday, May 30, in Tenerife, Distinguished Research Professor C. Brian Morris was awarded the Medalla de Oro de Canarias, one of the most prestigious honors offered by the government of the Canary Islands.

As many of you know, Professor Morris is an internationally recognized specialist on 20th-century Spanish literature, and he has been a pioneer in his research on surrealism in Spain, Spanish cinema, and the poetry of Federico García Lorca and Rafael Alberti, among other topics.

Since his retirement, he has published four books—and is nearing completion of a fifth as well as more than a dozen research articles and reviews. He has also given frequent invited lectures, particularly in Tenerife, which is the site of much of his recent research.
