Xana Furtado and Ícaro Carvalho have been selected among the five most promising emerging researchers in lusophone studies by the Portuguese Section of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP).
The “Outstanding Portuguese Graduate Student Research Competition” welcomed submissions across fields including Portuguese linguistics, literature, Luso-Afro-Brazilian studies, pedagogy, and translation. Submissions were evaluated through a blind review process.
Both Xana and Ícaro were invited to present their research at the AATSP Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, scheduled for July 8–11, 2026, where they will be considered for awards and publication opportunities.
