UCLA sociology major Laila Wheeler participated this year in the Spanish and Portuguese department’s five-week-long Granada Summer Travel Study Program, Session I, directed by Professors Verónica Cortínez and Maarten van Delden. Visiting multiple cities in Spain, immersing herself in Spanish culture, and taking classes with the department’s outstanding TAs proved transformative for this UCLA undergraduate. Upon her return, Laila wrote an article for The Daily Bruin encouraging other students to take advantage of UCLA’s study abroad opportunities.
