Assignments of Literature, Culture, and Linguistics Courses during the Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters

The following literature, culture, and linguistics courses are offered during the year (Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarters), are taught by a ladder faculty member, and are assisted by a variable number of TAs: i) SPAN/PORT M35; ii) SPAN 42; iii) SPAN 44; iv) SPAN 120; v) PORT 46.

Selection criteria for SPAN/PORT M35: i) TAs with at least two years of teaching experience will be given preference; ii) Must specialize in the area of Linguistics; iii) Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously assisted SPAN/PORT M35; iv) Additionally, the following elements will be weighed in the decision: 1) Three most recent student evaluations (*if SPAN/PORT M35 has been previously taught, student evaluations of said course are required); 2) Teaching awards; 3) Experience with external pedagogical training, training in inclusive teaching and/or other ongoing professionalization training; 4) Level of technological expertise. 

Selection criteria for SPAN 42 and SPAN 44: i) Must have at least two years of teaching experience; ii) Must specialize in the areas of Iberian literature, Latin American literature, or Portuguese literature; iii) Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously assisted the same course, and to those who have done so once before, to facilitate peer mentoring. *Please note that having taught Spanish 42/Spanish 44 during the summer will count towards the total number of times that a TA is eligible to assist each course; iv) Additionally, the following elements will be weighed in the decision: 1) Specific area of TA expertise; 2) Three most recent student evaluations (*if SPAN 42/SPAN 44 has been previously taught, student evaluations of said courses are required); 3) Teaching awards; 4) Experience with external pedagogical training, training in inclusive teaching and/or other ongoing professionalization training; 5) Level of technological expertise. 

Selection criteria for SPAN 120: i) Must have at least two years of teaching experience; ii) Must specialize in Latin American literature, Iberian literature, or Portuguese literature; iii) Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously assisted SPAN 120; iv) Additionally, the following elements will be weighed in the decision: 1) Three most recent student evaluations (*if SPAN 120 has been previously taught, student evaluations of said course are required); 3) Teaching awards; 4) Experience with external pedagogical training, training in inclusive teaching and/or other ongoing professionalization training; 5) Level of technological expertise. 

Selection criteria for PORT 46: i) Must have at least two years of teaching experience; ii) Must specialize in Brazil and the Portuguese-speaking world; iii) Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously assisted PORT 46; iv) Additionally, the following elements will be weighed in the decision: 1) Three most recent student evaluations (*if PORT 46 has been previously taught, student evaluation of said course are required); 2) Teaching awards; 3) Experience with external pedagogical training, training in inclusive teaching and/or other ongoing professionalization training; 4) Level of technological expertise.
